Wu Fen Pu and Rao He NM

五分埔 / 绕河夜市

Note: This is review post on my trip to Taipei, Taiwan. FYI, I went on this trip with my friends, Calvin and Jason. Subject on Wu Fen Pu (五分埔) and Raohe NM (绕河夜市).

Wu Fen Pu(五分埔) is located at Houshanpi metro station. If you are going there, remember to take exit (1). Another thing to take note, 五分埔 is only open around 4 PM onwards till night time and during Mondays, the stores are mostly replenishing stocks, it might be hard for you to shop around. It's more advisable to go on the other days of the week.

FYI, if you don't know what is Wu Fen Pu(五分埔), it is a shopping place/area similar to our Bugis's street. So in short, you can find a lot of cheap bargains for clothings there. Similarly to our Bugis's street, Wu Fen Pu have more ladies clothings as compared to guys. Still, you can find cheap tees and other apparels for guy there, if you are visiting Taiwan and you want to go shopping, remember not to miss this shopping spot.

Most of the stores there doesn't have fitting rooms, so you got to really consider a lot before buying. The prices are quite reasonable too, ranging from NT$200 to NT$1000 above. The price really depends on what type of apparels and quality of the product. Take note, unlike Singapore(which we only have rain and sun), when you are shopping in Taiwan(no matter is it Taipei or other cities), the stores sells different type of clothings according to their local season like spring, summer, autumn and winter.

Inside Wu Fen Pu (五分埔)

During holiday seasons or nearby festive holidays, Wu Fen Pu(五分埔) will be very crowded and there are many stores clearing stocks, so a lot of stuffs are expected to be even cheaper. Wu Fen Pu is a fashion street for local youths and it had been featured in many travel shows and international news. That is another reason why you must come here for shopping. Other than clothings, you can also find cheap snack stores/pushcarts in Wu Fen Pu. Eat and have more energy to go on shopping for more. Hahas.

After a lot of shopping at Wu Fen Pu(五分埔), probably you are now hungry...hahas. Fear not, just opposite Wu Fen Pu(五分埔) is Raohe night market(绕河夜市). Though it is said to be opposite and you might think it's very near, however, you still need to walk a distance to reach there. Actually, Wu Fen Pu and Raohe night market are separated by Songshan train station in between where Wu Fen Pu is the right side of the station and Raohe night market on the left.

Well, in case that you don't know how to reach there, below is the map I got myself to reach there. Map is created by me with the help of paint and google map. Firstly, you must walk to the Cosmed(Wu Fen Pu's outlet) then walk straight to 7-11, after that, you will see a lot of stores opposite selling helmets, cross over and walk straight till you see Songshan market, walk through the market and you are now inside the night market. I hope that helps you. When you are lost and don't know how to walk to night market, feel free to ask around, Taiwanese are very friendly, they will help you out. (:

When you come to the night market, remember to try all the nice foods there especially all the old stores(which they called '老店'). Calvin, Jason and I didn't went explore much at the night market but well...we did try some of the good foods and snacks there.

This is the entrance to the night market. And right in front of it...is the famous '胡椒饼' store.

As recommended on many forums, when you come to raohe night market(绕河夜市), you must try the Hu Jiao Bing (胡椒饼). We are no exception, we came, queued and tried the food. It's really very nice and yummy, each one cost you NT$45. But well, worth the price! Hahas.

Also featured on "食尚玩家"!

Before we head for the Hu Jiao Bing (胡椒饼), we tried Ba Ku Teh(肉骨茶) and minced pork rice(鲁肉饭). They are also cheap and taste really nice especially the minced pork rice(鲁肉饭). The foods cost from NT$20 to NT$80. Eat till you full, the serving is quite big too.

Other than these, we also tried Okonomiyaki too. FYI, it's an omelette filled with many rich ingredients such as hams, prawns and vegetables. A lot of other people were there to try too...we hardly get seats there too, but still we got 3 seats in the end. The boss will ask you whether that you want wasabi(they called it '芥末'), as we didn't knew it at first, so we said yes...dots. Please take note of this if you don't want wasabi. Hahas.

I only tried these at the night market, but I think there are also many other nice foods there too. I hope you guys would explore more and then share with the rest of the people who are going there too. My review ends here for now. If you want to read more of my reviews of my trip to Taiwan, please stay tuned and drop by often. (:
