Ximending and Taipei 101

西门町 / 台北101

Note: This is review post on my trip to Taipei, Taiwan. FYI, I went on this trip with my friends, Calvin and Jason. Subject on Ximending/Taipei 101.

My first day starts at Taipei Ximending(西门町) followed by Taipei 101(台北101) then ending the day with dinner at Shihlin night market(士林夜市). We arrived at Taoyuan, Taiwan at around 12 noon and then we took a coach to Taipei. You can get a coach at the bus terminal in Taoyuan international airport(桃园国际机场) at a low price of NT$125.

Ximending(西门町) is where all the youth hang out and it's really a very crowded place during weekends and night time. We had our lunch at the famous Ah Zong Mian Xian(阿宗面线). Each bowl of mian xian(面线) cost you around NT$40 ~ NT$60. It's quite cheap and it taste really nice.

Ximen Red house(西门红楼) is a theater. In there you can find small tea cafes and some souvenir stores. In fact, there is nothing much there for you to explore. But the building is really nice for photo taking, when you visit Ximending, remember to come here to take photos, it gave a nice oldies feeling to your photos. (:

Shopping at Ximending(西门町)! There are a lot branded stores in Ximending such as Onitsuka Tiger, Converse, Stage(Show Luo's store) and many mores. You also can find many reasonable priced bags and makeup products around! In Taiwan, many of the youths like Nike and Adidas, so you can easily find many shoe stores selling these brands.

Photos of day and night in Ximending.

Our lunch, look really tasty! Hahas. Well, there are also a lot of people eating there too.

Come Ximending, do also remember to visit Modern Toilet(便所餐丁). It's a toilet-themed restaurant. We came here for lunch after we came back from Hualien. It's really very cute! Each meal cost around NT$250, priced similarly to our Aston's here.

Our dining area! Nice!

Food at Ximending are all very reasonable, you can get your stomach full with every single cents you paid. We went to Taipei 101(台北101) on the first day. Well, during my trip, it was really foggy and misty, you hardly can see the top of the tower during the day. Many forumers reviewed that it was not worth it to go all the way up to the observation deck, which I kind of agreed. During the day, it's not so advisable to go to the deck as at the top, you can see only buildings all over. But during the night, it may be a different case as you will be able to see the clear night view of the city. To go or not, it's up to your own decision. Each entry cost you around NT$200 ~ NT$400, if I estimated correctly. (:

FYI: Taipei 101 (台北101) is the world 3rd highest/tallest building.

Taipei 101 (台北101)

Inside the Taipei 101 mall, you will see all the expensive designer apparel stores like Gucci, LV, Burberry etc;. They have food court there too. Nearby the mall, you can spot Attfun mall (formerly named New York New York 纽约纽约) and Vieshow cinema. There are also many clubs(which the Taiwanese called them '夜店') such as Babe 18 and Lava nearby the area.

We walked around the malls nearby too, well...you can easily spot a lot of pretty and beautiful girls. The stores at the other mall also sells a lot of expensive apparel too, you can find G-star and other similar stores around. Since you are in the central area of the city, expect stuffs to be that expensive. It's just like our orchard road.

Well, if you feel tired after a long walk. You all can visit a massage store at Ximending to ease all the tiredness! They got many packages for you all to choose from. Calvin and me went for the NT$500 package that include foot spa and upper body massage. Jason went for the full package(NT$1000/hr) that include foot spa and whole body massage.

This is the end of my review on Ximending/Taipei 101. If you like my review post, you can read more of them on my navigation panel on the right of the site. :D
