Feng Jia Night Market
逢甲夜市
I went Taiwan once again, this time, it’s with Wei An. This is a travel post on Feng Jia Night Market (逢甲夜市), Taichung.
Feng Jia Night Market (逢甲夜市) is the most big and popular night market in Taichung. In there, you can find all sorts of stuffs from foods to clothing. If you are looking for both, this night market will fit your requirements. The night market is quite far away from the train station and so, it is better that you take a cab.
Street of Feng Jia Night Market (逢甲夜市)
For my trip, I took a cab down and it cost us NT$225 per ride. It’s not cheap but cannot blame since I was staying quite far away from the night market. Anyway, the night market is located nearby the University of Feng Jia (逢甲大學). So, do expect a lot students walking around the night market. Not to mention that there will be also many pretty girls around too. Hahas.
Nevertheless, we enjoyed ourselves during the trip. We did have a lot of food and Wei An got some clothes too. It was a fruitful visit, I believed. Ok, as usual, I will recommend to you guys the foods that you should try when you visit the night market then. :)
Firstly, I shall start with something light, "QQ肠粉". This dish is called “steamed vermicelli roll” (Translated by Dictionary.com) in English. We had the signature dish of the store and each set cost NT$55. We didn’t ask for the chill but the uncle just poured in some which makes us really jumping for water. The chill was really spicy, luckily, it wasn’t a lot…but overall, the food was quite tasty and it was not too oily which is something I realized. Hahas.

Following, we have grilled buns from "許家生煎包". I wondered is this the outlet from the “師大夜市” in Taipei since they had the same store name. Anyway, the grilled buns were delicious and tasty, it was pretty similar to what I had in “師大夜市”. If poured in some vinegar, it will be heavenly. FYI, each pack cost NT$35 and it contain 5 of these buns.

Next stop of snack that you shouldn’t miss is grilled scallops from "歐咪呀給干貝燒". Anyway, their first store is located at “士林夜市” in Taipei. They also have outlets at Kuala Lumpur and Penang in Malaysia too. Well, the store is quite a huge one and you have to queue for it. There are several flavors to choose from. Wei An chose the signature one and I got the lemon flavored one. To find out more about the store, please visit their official website at http://www.omak.com.tw.

Featured on Taiwanese variety show "完全娛樂" and "食尚玩家" too!
Okay, next stop is duck meat wrap from "北平四方烧鸭夹饼". That’s quite a long store name. Anyway, each wrap cost NT$40 and the portion is quite big. The wrap contains roasted duck meat, carrots, cucumbers, beansprouts and spring onions. Every bite I have is full of rich fillings, it is really quite tasty.

Moving on…I found this store (黄金右腿) selling cheese chicken drumstick (焗烤鸡腿). Also being featured on "食尚玩家", each set cost NT$70. To certain extent, it is quite steep. However, the food tasted quite nice which I think it’s quite worth it. To many chicken lovers, this snack is a must-try and I think if you are tired of those fried chicken cutlet, why not try this instead? It’s grilled and to some extent, it is much healthier than fried cutlets. Though the calories level in it is still pretty high.

After a walkthrough of the night market street, we exited the night market and to our surprise. We found this store selling "當歸鴨麵線" (Angelica duck vermicelli)! The aroma was so strong that we could smell it from far. Wei An bought one bowl back to the hotel for supper. It was really tasty and the soup was heavenly. Not only that the store attracted our attention, it is also quite popular among the locals too. I did my research after I tasted the dish and from my research…I got to know there are quite a number of local fans that highly recommend this store. Anyway, you can found out more from these 2 links below.
