Shilin Night Market

士林夜市

This is an updated post of my travelogue on Shilin night market(士林夜市). Recently, I am back from another trip to Taiwan. This trip, I went with my friend, Weian. In this updated post, I shall cover more which I didn’t get to during the previous trip with my friends, Calvin and Jason. So for now, let your mouth drool as you scroll and read this post full of nice snacks and drinks! :D

Shilin night market(士林夜市) is the most famous night market in Taiwan and it’s located in Taipei. There are really a lot of good foods there and you can find cheap apparels there too. In my opinion, do expect crowds during weekend night especially when the weather is really good. We had many Taiwanese snacks over at the night market.

FYI: If you are visiting Shilin Night Market, take a metro train and alight at Jiantan station(剑潭站). Take exit (1).

When you are at the entrance of the night market, do turn back and look at the metro station as the station is built like a sword shard.

Now, I shall probably make you drool. Food time! To the entrance...remember to go eat what I had recommended below if you are visiting Shilin night market(士林夜市)! Hahas.

Cold muachee pancake(they called it '格子Q')! First outlet is located at Puda garden night market(埔大花园夜市), this is the Shilin(士林分店) outlet. As mentioned on the show, the colder it is, the more tasty and Q it will be and each one cost you NT$40.

:D

Sheng Jian Bao(生煎包)!! Rwars!! Cheap cheap, because the cost is all shared among 3 of us. Yummy!! You can tell the boss to help you do the saucing, you also can request for vinegar if you like as the local seldom put in vinegar.

Cheese Potato(起士马铃薯)! You can find this at Ximending(西门町) too. But since I am already here, might as well I try it here...hahas. The queue is quite long and you will be given a small paper (with menu on it) to select which flavour you would like. This one cost around NT$55 per serving, quite cheap too.

Hao Da Da Ji Pai(豪大大鸡排)!! In Singapore, their first outlet is at City square mall. But of course, I am at their first outlet in Taiwan! Trying the best of the original version, each one cost NT$60.

After many snacks, it's time for drink. When you come here, remember to try their Qing Wa Xia Dan(青蛙下蛋)!! It's the best, it's a cup of normal grass-jelly and soya bean drink but added with pearls!! It really taste very nice, perfect combination! :D

Next, we went on eating! It's really an eating fest over at Shilin because everything just seems so tasty to try! Hahas. This time round, we had fried riceball(炸饭团). This is their Shilin(士林分店) outlet, the store that is featured in Super Taste(食尚玩家) is their Puda garden night market(埔大花园夜市)'s store. They also got many flavour to choose from. Each one cost NT$35, yup, it's that cheap.

Ending our eating fest with 2 more of these good foods. Sausages and grass-jelly drink! Both taste really very awesome! Remember to come try, people!

Why you should visit these stores? Because they are featured in famous food show, Super Taste(食尚玩家)!

Updated: Visit to Shilin night market with Weian. Below are some of the new addition of foods found in Shilin night market. During this trip, we came here basically for shopping and dinner. Foods were nice as usual! Hahas. First stop, we had the usual dumplings and chicken cutlet. Then, slowly, we eat our way through. :)

Sweet Dumpling (汤圆)

My bowl of sweet and warm dessert, so good for the cooling weather. (NT$50)

Weian ordered this huge bowl of mango and banana shaved ice. (NT$100)

After that dessert, we continued walking around the night market. Weian was busy shopping for shoes. Dots, while I am going around looking for good foods.

One of the shoes store in the night market.

After a long walk and shopping, we wrapped up our trip with some of the nice and cheap snacks. Below are some of the nice snacks we bought back to our hotel to eat. It's quite a long day for us and these goodies sure summed up our night real nice.

My takoyaki (章鱼丸), costed me only NT$40 for 6 balls.

Weian's crab soup (螃蟹羹)

I have come to the end of this edition of my travelogue. I hope you guys have enjoyed reading this long post full of foods. Hahas, also remember to check out my others travelogues in Taiwan.
