Bangkok Online Marathon 2016

Evening peeps! It's Tuesday, I am back here for a quick update! I was back in Japan for a vacation last week so I did not have the time to post this one up. Anyway, before I went for my holiday last week, I took part in the Bangkok Online Marathon 2016 organised by 42race. This is my first virtual race and it was a good experience.

The benefits of running a virtual race is that you can choose the time to start, where to run and how long you wanted to run as long as you hit your goal. I think the flexibility of virtual run will attract many busy working adults and beginner runners too. I signed up for the 10km category this time round. The race was supposed to be held on the same day as the annual Bangkok marathon. However, due to the passing of the Thai's King, the actual race was postponed but the virtual run still goes on as usual.

The race was held on 20 November 16 (Sunday), I chose to get up early to start my run. I ended my run with a timing of around 55 mins. I guess it's a pretty decent timing for a 10km run as my average timing for 10km is about 57 mins. The disadvantage of running in a virtual race is that you have to hydrate yourself sufficiently as there will not be any water points. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my run.

Every finishers are entitled to an unique Bangkok's Palace medal. For early registration, runners can get a free bandana and free engraving of name on their finisher medal! The race offers only the most basic stuffs so it only cost $9.90 for the registration fee. If you are into medals, virtual runs organised by the 42race team will certainly please you!

Upon completion of the race, finishers received the digital certificate!

The delivery of the medal was fast, it came within 2 working days after I completed my race. This part, 42race really did well! In conclusion, I am happy that I did not have to fly to Bangkok to take part in the Bangkok marathon and that I can still earn a nice Bangkok marathon's finisher medal. The medal is also one of the nicest ones I earned this year too! I will be taking part in more races in upcoming year with Sundown Marathon and 2XU Compression Run hitting on my list for the first half of the year and Pocari Sweat Run on the second half. Running has certainly becoming one of my fave activities and I did not hate it at all.
