Megane Bashi

Afternoon Peeps, welcome back to another week of travelogue! In today post, I will be sharing about my visit to Megane Bashi (眼鏡橋) located in Nagasaki city. There are apparently many bridges in the megane bashi area. Many of them are built to connect the towns in the past. Megane Bashi is one of the famous ones due to its shape. To get to the Megane Bashi area, you can take the tram from Nagasaki station and alight at Nigiwaibashi station (賑橋). The whole trip will take about 10 minutes or less.

A few minutes walk, you will reach the Megane Bashi. The cute thing about the area is that even their benches here are marked in the shape of spectacles. Shop houses and small cafes are spotted along the bridge area. I recommend spending about 30 minutes to 45 minutes hanging along to take in the atmosphere.

Another highlight at the area is the river walk below the bridge. Visitors can take the built stone stairs down to the river from the bridge, the walls are built with stones too. Observe closely, you might be able spot the heart-shaped stone too!
