Ximending and Taipei 101 2014

西門町/台北101

Good evening, peeps!! It's Wednesday again and I am back for another travel post. This will be my last travel post on my recent Taiwan trip, it took me probably 2 months to wrap up all the posts and during these months, I hope that you have enjoyed reading every words and details of the posts. Nevertheless, I shall start this wonderful post now!

Taipei 101 (台北101) is one of the world notable tall buildings. It was located in the heart of Taipei and easily accessible by MRT and bus stops. The Taipei 101 mall houses a variety of stores from restaurants, cafes to branded designer stores such as Gucci, Emporio Armani, Ermenegildo Zegna and etc;. At here, it also lies the popular agnès b.CAFÉ L.P.G. I believed some people would like to try them out sometimes, they also have an outlet in Hong Kong too. The cafe, as reviewed by many bloggers, it was pretty good. They also sells chocolates as souvenirs for friends and family too.

Taipei 101 mall is also the place where you are able to purchase the tickets to the observation decks at the top levels of the tower. I do not know how much does it cost but I believed it's around S$20. My advice is that if you are going to visit Taiwan in March, the weather may be foggy and thus, there is no point to visit the decks as you may not be able to experience a full and nice 360 view from the deck due to the fog/mist. In my opinion, Taipei 101 is one of the malls which you are able to shop for many famous designer brands and thus, if you are feeling rich, this may be one of the malls you wanted to check up during your visit!

In conclusion, Raven and I did not went through the whole mall as I told her that the shops located in here would be very similar to the shops in Orchard Road. We did explored the basement of the mall for a while and toured their supermarket too. Hmm...indeed, it's a very "ATAS" mall.

Ximending (西門町) is one of the most busting areas in Taipei. It is also where most of the youngster and young adults hang out. Ximending offered a lot of affordable shopping and entertainment. At here, you will see street performers from times to times. There are also cinemas and KTV here too. Cafes and restaurants are also easily located all around the MRT station. It is one of the most visited places for tourists too. And guess what? The Starbucks in Ximending spanned 3 floors of seats, it is that big.

We also explored a new mall, "neoWest" too. This is very small mall with very few shops. We came here because we are too bored. The mall houses a few restaurants and some apparel stores. Apparently, we aren't interested in them at all. Then, we chanced upon an arcade area with basketball machines. We started changing coins and tested our shooting skills. Hahas. We were so warmed up after all the tossing. Hahas, anyway, each play is around S$0.50. (1 time cheaper than in SG!!)

With a lot of spare time, we almost toured the whole Ximending...Dots. We also went to the "Gay" area of the place too since it was nearby the "Red House (西門紅樓)". The red house was closed during our visit, anyway, there is nothing much there. In there, there are some exhibitions of the old Taiwan and souvenirs vendors too. I know this because I went in before, read about my previous visit if you are interested! We wrapped our stay at around 5 PM? I can't remember it either. In conclusion, it is one of must visit places when visiting Taipei.
