Hualien City

花莲市

Note: This is review post on my trip to Hualien, Taiwan. FYI, I went on this trip with my friends, Calvin and Jason. Subject on Hualien-shi(花莲市).

Hualien-shi(花莲市) is the central of Hualien Country(花蓮縣) in Taiwan. It's one of the busiest and popular city in Hualien Country. Hualien is one of the beautiful area in Taiwan, well, it's famous for its muachee(麻吉) and marble rocks(大理石). You can spot a big marble rock in front of the entrance of Hualien train station(花莲站).

Other than its beautiful coastline scenery and awesome mountain view, Hualien also have great foods and shopping areas. From my previous posts, I covered the beautiful Taroko gorge(太魯閣), Chishingtan(七星潭) and foods that you can find in Zi Qiang Ye Shi(自强夜市). This post will give you more information on shopping and famous foods that are featured on '食尚玩家'.

Let's start with shopping first. For this trip, I did some research, the main shopping area is around Gong Zheng Street(公正街) and Zhong Zheng Road(中正路) area. From these areas, you will be able to spot many muachee stores and also many other gift stores too. Other than gifts, you will able to get clothings and apparels at these areas.

At Zhong Zheng Road area, you will find an old railway park. In there, you can shop and eat. There are cafes, restaurants and many other retail stores. In my opinions, all the retail stores sell at quite reasonable prices. So you need not worry about too much on budget. Anyway, we shopped at one of the store there. The store name is 'LABU', they sell chocolates and biscuits in many kind of packagings. These packagings are pretty interesting and they are quite unique too. Also, the owner had a pretty dog outside his store. The dog is really friendly and cute. :D

After all that shopping, it's time to eat! Hmm...let's start our food journey! (:

First in the row, LA MIAN(拉面)! This restaurant is featured on the famous food show, '食尚玩家'. So I decided to bring Calvin and Jason to try. Hmm, indeed, it's quite nice and tasty. The price is quite cheap too. This is our dinner for that day (after our Taroko Gorge tour). The store name is called '香人'. When you dine there, you will get a jar of free green tea, glasses will be provided. Little more information, the store staffs are all quite good looking, which also include girls too. XD

Now, here's another must-eat when you visit Hualien city(花蓮市). Steamed dumplings(蒸饺子) and Xiao-Long-Bao(小籠包)! These are really the famous snacks at Hualien city(花蓮市). You can find them at Gong Zheng Street(公正街). The store name is called '公正包子'. When come to good foods, '食尚玩家' never failed to recommend to the audience. Each tray (10 pcs) sells at between NT$30 to NT$40.

Lastly, I shall finish this post with this final snack store we dropped by. The store sells fried chicken cutlet and potato rings. Like many other fried chicken cutlet snacks, this store is no exception too. It tastes really awesome from our first bite. The interesting thing about this store is their potato rings, this is my first time seeing potato in ring shapes. Hmm, interesting. Hahas. Anyway, the store bundle their cutlet and potato rings into meals. Every meal comes with a cup of drink and potato rings as side.
