Senado Square and Ruins of St. Paul

*This is a review post on Senado Square(議事亭前地) and Ruins of St. Paul(大三巴牌坊). FYI, I went on this trip with my friend, Zhi Wei.

Ticket office, ferry tickets, ferry and crowd of people boarding the vessel.

Macau is not far away from Hong Kong. From Hong Kong, you can either take ferry from HK island or Kowloon island to reach Macau. During this trip, I board the ferry at Sheung Wan(上環)'s Shun Tak Centre(信德中心). The ferry fare ranges between SGD$25 - $27, if I didn't remembered wrongly, the trip back from Macau is more expensive by a dollar or two.

Senado Square(議事亭前地) is located nearby Lisboas casino and hotel. You can walk from the casino main entrance, you will pass by a Mcdonalds restaurant. Well, before that, to reach Lisboas, you can take their free shuttle bus from the ferry terminal.

Sendao Square is full of shopping and portuguese styled buildings, it's one of the famous tourist spots in Macau. Many tourists would flock here to buy gifts and take photos. The square somehow serves as the central part of the whole portuguese heritage buildings and structures around the area.

At the square, I passed by a really big store of Watsons and some significant spots of Macau. FYI, the Watsons store have 3 levels of different products for men, ladies and travel essentials etc;. However, I believed it's not the cheapest buys around. There are also many comestic stores in Hong Kong selling products at below retail prices.

Within few minutes of walking, you will come pass Sao Domingos(玫瑰堂). The pale yellow Spanish-style church towers over the square. The church was once been renovated due to damages done by the white ants in the 1990s. The church is free to enter and the operating timing is from 10AM to 6PM(Singapore time) daily.

A little more further down from the square, you will reach the Ruins of St. Paul(大三巴牌坊). There are many store around the area selling many kind of souvenirs and gifts. After a long phototaking session, probably, you would want to visit one of the store to enjoy the air-con, meantime, see and shop something for your friends and family.

Nearby the area, you will find Forteleza do Monte(大炮台). I didn't went to the fort but I shall share a bit on it. The fort is the military base of Portuguese up till 1966 when Portugal decided to adminstrate Macau instead of colonising it. Some interesting thing that you might want to see are the cannons and the walls of the fort.
