The Peak / Madame Tussauds

*This is a review post on The Peak and Madame Tussauds. FYI, I went on this trip with my friend, Zhi Wei.

Hong Kong has quite a number of famous landmarks and tourist spots, The Peak is one of the famous one. The Peak is located at the top of Tai Ping Shan(太平山). It houses Madame Tussauds, restaurants, cafes and retail stores at the top. Last but not least, it also have an observation deck that provide an amazing day and night view of the whole Hong Kong city and Kowloon counterparts too.

To get there, you will need to take the tram at The Peak’s lower tram terminal. The Peak’s lower tram terminal is located nearby Central MTR station. Within 10 to 15 mins of walking distance, you will reach the tram terminal. There is a walking map from the official website, click here to find out more. You will pass by the significant Bank of China’s tower. During my trip, I took some photos with the tower. The feeling is like if you see that tower, you had been to Hong Kong.

As Hong Kong’s top tourist spot, the tram to the top of the The Peak is always full and packed. The queue to board and purchase the tickets to board the tram is both equally long. In the evening time between SGT 04:00 to 06:00 PM~, the queue is even longer and waiting time may be from 30 mins to 45 mins.

Crowd of people waiting in line to board the tram.

You can get ticket packages from the Madame Tussauds’s counter and the tram ticket counter. We took the one from Madame Tussauds, our package includes entry to observation deck, entry to Madame Tussauds and the tram (back-and-flow) fare. We each pays around SGD$37~ and it’s pretty much worth it, for that price, we spend like hours at The Peak.

There are many things to see at The Peak. Madame Tussauds can last you at least 2 hours. Definitely, you will spend a lot of your time taking photos. Re-pose and take another photo again if you don’t like the previous shot as there is no time limit for staying inside the museum. After a long photo taking session, take a break at any restaurants or cafes and then, when night falls, proceed to the observation deck to savour the amazing night view of Hong Kong city.
