I went Taiwan once again, this time, it’s with Wei An. This is a travel post on Gong Yuan Yan Ke (宫原眼科), Taichung.
Gong Yuan Yan Ke (宫原眼科) is a popular ice cream store in Taichung city. It is also one of the newest tourist attractions in Taichung. In there, it is a library full of goodies from Taiwan. They sell chocolates, sun biscuits (太阳饼), tea leaves and bags, sweets, pineapple cookies and so much more. However, the prices for these products are pretty steep. Unless you are some rich person, I doubt you would spend a lot on the products there.

During our visit, we only went for the ice cream there. It was one of the must-eat in Taichung, I believed. Anyway, I was freezing while eating the ice cream. That day, it was around 15°C. Even though it was freezing cold, but the ice cream tasted really good. I must say, I did not waste my money. Hahas.

There is a restaurant or café which I am not really sure located at the second level of the building. But, as mentioned earlier, the products were expensive…the restaurant’s foods are not cheap either. I think it is targeted more to the richer tourists or locals. I peeped at the menu while some other customers were looking at…and from the menu, each pot of Chinese tea cost NT$400 to NT$500. In my opinion, it was really damn expensive and totally out of my budget.

Inside the shopping area, there is a place for you to get free post cards and you can stamp on the post cards with their rubber stamps. The stamps were quite pretty and the post cards were not bad too. Since it’s free, Wei An and me took our time getting the cards and stamps. If you are visiting here, do not forget to get yours too. It’s a special souvenir that you should not miss. :)

Overall, it’s worth a tour around the building since it’s free entry. Before you leave the place, just remember to grab a bowl of their ice cream. It cost quite reasonable and affordable to most of us in Singapore. If you have nothing for the day when you visit Taichung, this is one place that might catch your interest. Besides, the building is located nearby the train station which I believed it is quite convenient. I have come to the end of this travel post and I hope that you have gained some useful information.
