Keelung / Miao Kou Night Market
基隆庙口夜市
I went Taiwan once again, this time, it’s with Wei An. This is a travel post on Keelung Miao Kou Night Market (基隆庙口夜市), Taipei.
Keelung city (基隆市) is a city located in Taipei. It is famous for its night market and also the habour. Other than these 2 attractions, there are also several historical sites that is worth to visit. Due to time constraint and it was late evening, Wei An and me therefore only visited the night market. Along the way, we did passed by the habour, but we did not stop by to explore. The next time when I visit Taipei again, I hope to have more time.
Direct view towards Keelung habour.
Having little time is a problem, seriously…so we went on to shop and eat as quick as possible. Before we went for our dinner, we visited one of their supermarkets to get some snacks, instant noodles and etc; for our friends and family. Those stuffs are so rare in Singapore...besides, it’s so much cheaper to buy there than in Singapore. Trust me…if you ever visit any country, do go explore their supermarket or probably even their market place. You never know, sometimes, you might find something you might like.

Back to the night market then…we have a few famous and tasty foods here. If you don’t know, “基隆庙口夜市” is one of the popular night markets in Taipei. The others are “士林夜市”, “饶河夜市” and “师大夜市”. Other than delicious foods, in this night market, you also can find quite a number of apparel stalls too. But it’s not as much as compared to the other night markets.
Now, I shall introduce to you guys some of the foods which I have tried. I do hope you guys would like it too. Hahas. Firstly, I would definitely recommend you people to try the “卤肉饭” and “油豆腐” from “天一香肉焿顺” (Store 31). The pricing is confirmed cheap for most of us in Singapore and not to mention that the foods were really tasty.

Next, we walked to the end of the night market and turn left…we found this store selling gyoza (鍋貼). There were no tables for us as usual…it just shows how popular the food is. Anyway, we packed a box back to our hotel for supper. It was nice and delicious! Yummy.

Following next…we passed by one of the stores selling wild boar sausage. We bought one stick to try. It was really delicious! I think everything in Taiwan tasted just so nice. Well, one stick cost NT$40 and so it was quite affordable to many.

Then, we quench our thirst with drinks from this store at the end of the night market. I ordered the “冬瓜茶”. It was pretty sweet…dots. But overall, it was still ok. After our drinks, we ended our night with a bowl of meesua (面线) at the middle of the night market (I was so focused on the food that I did not took any photos of the stall and number).

Delicious meesua (面线) to end our evening.
Miao Kou Night Market is also featured in Jay Chou's MV!! Woah!
I have come to the end of this travel post. In conclusion, this is one of the nicest night markets that I have visited. I believed you will agree if you are visiting Taipei. This travel post is the last travel post on my 2013 Taiwan trip. I hope that you have enjoyed all the travel posts which I have posted earlier and do drop by soon for more updates.
