Yi Zhong Night Market
一中夜市
I went Taiwan once again, this time, it’s with Wei An. This is a travel post on Yi Zhong Night Market (一中夜市), Taichung.
Yi Zhong Night Market (一中夜市) is one of the popular night markets in Taichung. On the street of the night market, you can find many snack, clothes and handphone accessories stores. Unlike the main cities in Taiwan, Taichung doesn’t have MRT as their transportation mode. It is pretty difficult to reach somewhere you wanted to go. Luckily, there are still buses and cabs available.

Anyway, since there is no MRT in Taichung, you will not see many big shopping malls around. So, the ideal place to shop is probably at the night markets. At the area of Yi Zhong Night Market, you will see quite a number of shopping malls though these malls are not those big ones but still, it’s pretty nice to shop at too. Shopping is a thing that makes people happy. Note that there are many clothes for girls but lesser for guys.
One of the ladies apparel stores.
One of the main and newest Taiwan brand, 50 percent have many nice collection of clothes for men. I would recommend that to all the guys and girls who wanted to buy clothes for their brother/boyfriend. You can check out their collection on their official website at http://www.50-shop.com/new_catalog.html.
Q: Why I recommend this brand?
A: The product quality is good and the prices of the clothes are quite affordable.
Other than shopping, another thing to do here at Yi Zhong Night Market is to fill up your stomach with delicious and tasty street snacks. Being the one of the popular night markets in Taichung, there are a lot of youngsters and tourists whom actually patronized the area. Not to mention that the food hunters who come here oftenly.
I shall share all the snacks and foods that I have tried with you guys. Let’s begin…yea? Firstly, I recommend the carrot cake (萝卜糕). The carrot cake is wrapped with an egg while cooking, so it is like an egg omelet wrapped in a carrot cake. Anyway, each serving cost NT$40. The snack tasted good but a bit oily…it’s still acceptable though. I would recommend you to bring along a pack of tissue during your visit, hahas.

Next, we have the corndog (大热狗). There are few stores selling the same thing, well, I also don’t know why did I chose this store. Nevertheless, the corndog was tasty and delicious. There were few flavours to choose from and I chose the cheese one (NT$15) and Weian chose the yam one (NT$15).

After walking around, we stopped by this store for the egg waffle cake. It is one of the famous snack store and guess what, we bought one box of the leftover mixed flavours (综合). There were just like around 10 boxes left, dots…this is just how nice the cake was. Anyway, inside that box, there were peanuts, chocolate, cheese and some other flavours which I don’t know. But the cake tasted really soft and nice. This store was featured on the notable variety show, "你猜你猜你猜猜猜" and famous Taiwanese food show, "食尚玩家" too.

Following the food trail, we also have the charcoal-grilled chicken cutlet (炭烤鸡排) which is quite a hot thing for the local students. The chicken cutlet is quite big and almost the same size as "豪大大鸡排" at Shilin Night Market (士林夜市). However, for this store, they sprayed a layer of lemon juice onto the cutlet making the chicken cutlet more refreshing and less oily. It is something really nice and tasty. If you ever visit the night market, why not grab one to try it out yourself? As a fan of "食尚玩家", this store is also featured on the show too.

Next, we also bought steamed dumplings (蒸饺) back to our hotel for supper. The dumplings were also one of the nice snacks found in the night market. Now, I realized that we had like dumplings for almost every night market trips. Hahas. Anyway, the dumplings were tasty, you won’t get tired of it after having it for 2 to 3 pieces. It is really worth every penny paid! :)

After so much recommendation on snacks, I shall recommend a drink store that sells cheap and nice red tea and milk tea. This store was also featured on "食尚玩家" too. For the price of NT$35, you can get a pretty large cup of white pearl milk tea (白珍珠奶茶). The drink was smooth and nice. Main point, it quenches thirsts.

Hmm…In conclusion, I think Yi Zhong Night Marktet is worth coming and there are just so much stuffs here for the girls. For the food lovers, it’s worth the trip down here since the food price ranges is quite affordable. I have summed up my travel post and hopefully, you gained some useful insights.
