TYBD River Safari Singapore (2013)
On a sunny October's Sunday, Eileen and I went out to celebrate our birthdays. It was not the actual day but still it was an enjoyable one. We took bus 927 from Choa Chu Kang bus interchange and alighted right in front of the Singapore Zoo's bus stop. From there, we are just few steps away from River Safari!
Flood of people queuing for tickets! ;(
Got the tickets...first shot with the entrance board!
River Safari is one of Singapore's newest tourist attractions. The park houses a number of endangered animals and the most popular one is the Giant Panda. The park is not too big, you can use probably around an hour or so to cover it. There are 7 river sections namely the Mississippi River, Congo River, River Nile, Ganges River, Murray River, Mekong River and Yangtze River.
Mekong River!
Huge freshwater stingray!
Other than these rivers, the park also have an Amazon Flooded Forest zone where the famous manatee resides and a Squirrel Monkey Forest zone which you will be able to see cute and agile squirrel monkey going about their daily life.

Please note that the park is not fully opened yet. Thus, the pricing to the park currently cost S$25 instead of the original price of S$35. Currently, the Amazon River Quest boat ride is not available. Another zone that you shouldn't miss when visiting River Safari is the Giant Panda Forest. The forest zone is home to Jia Jia and Kai Kai (The Giant Pandas), the Red Pandas and also Golden Pheasant.
The Golden Pheasant, not easy to spot it. It's my luck.

Eat so much, no wonder they are so fat and round.

After walking for quite some time, we tend to get hungry, no? Here we are, to the Panda Mama Kitchen located in the park. Well, I am really disappointed with the foods. It seems over-rated by people. For lunch, I ordered the bamboo rice combo set which comes with the rice, logan beancurd and sichuan soup. I also then added on the gyoza and the ever-popular panda bun. Overall, the meal was ok but not fantastic. I don't recommend ordering the gyoza as it don't taste nice. The logan beancurd tasted weird, not nice. As for the panda bun, it's just normal bun but with the panda design on it. 2.5 stars out of 5, my rating.

My river safari trip ended with a walk in the souvenir store. Then, we wrapped our day with dinner back at Marche Movenpick @ JEM. Marche Movenpick is one of Marche newest concept restaurants where it is more to the drinks, dessert and bar foods. Eileen and I spent a total of about S$37 there. We had the main course and iced water for dinner. The price is pretty steep, so if you are looking for budget foods in here...don't bother. Nevertheless, our foods tasted really great and I have to say, I really enjoyed my dinner. The service provided was great and the ambience, hmm...must give thumbs-up! Once in while, you can give this restaurant a try. I have come to the end of this post. Hopefully, you guys did not wasted your time reading this and instead, gained some useful information. Be sure to drop by soon for more reads, yea?
