Nagasaki Peace Park
Afternoon peeps, it's Sunday and I am back for another quick weekly update. In today's post, I will be sharing about my trip to Nagasaki's Peace Park. Located in the Nagasaki prefecture, this park marks the peace keeping efforts from Japan's dark past. This park is also where the atomic bomb was dropped during WWII. 70 years has passed and Japan has seen changes and today's one of the top economies in the world.
To get to the park, simply take the tram and alight at Heiwa Koen (平和公園). This park housed many art sculptures donated by many artistes over the world, they represent each country effort to maintain peace. At the center of the park, was the famous fountain and peace statue. The park is quite huge and amenities like restrooms and benches are easily located.

The stone at the front of the fountain was spotted with the wordings of a little girl whom survived the bombing finding clean water to drink. Being thirsty, she drank the dirty water that was oily and polluted with dirt. The effect of the war is really bad and this park aims to set this into people's mind. Peace keeping is important in today's context.
I took some photos around the park before leaving. If you are interested to visit the park, there are some small shops and the Atomic Museum located in the park which you can explore. Personally, I only learnt about the history of the wars during my history class in my secondary school years. To be able to visit the real site, it's really something to experience out of the class. Something that felt more impactful than the dry theories.
