Wu Fen Pu and Rao He NM 2014

五分埔/饒河夜市

Hello peeps! I am back for another travel post! This time round, I will be posting on the recent visit to Wu Fen Pu (五分埔) and Rao He Night Market (饒河夜市)! I hope you guys will enjoy this! Without further ado, I shall kick start this post with a short introduction to Wu Fen Pu. Wu Fen Pu is one of the most popular shopping spots in Taipei due to its cheaper selling rate. People flocked here from the city main area, locals and tourists will never missed out this spot when visiting the nearby Rao He Night Market. Since that both places are beside one another, usually, I will plan them together in the travel itinerary.

Wu Fen Pu is pretty big, it's very similar to our Bugis street. Things were said to be selling at wholesale prices which I doubt so. In my opinion, clothes and apparel here are selling at pretty average price and some quite costly too. During this visit, I bought 2 ladies top and 1 ladies bag for my pretty friends and sister. Total damages to my wallet was around NT$2500!! But you know, if you are very careful and details about things, you might be able to get stuffs which is lower than NT$200/300. Here, it's not possible to bargain as they will tell you the same thing, "It's cheap already, outside store selling at higher price" etc;. Most store do not provide free-trying services for items on sale, thus, buy at your own risk.

One of the lanes in Wu Fen Pu

The place which was named the Wholesale place and they got their stuffs/items mainly from Thailand, Korea and China. Perhaps some from Singapore and Japan. Wu Fen Pu covered a series of lanes, hence, Raven and I spent quite some time to walk from one spot to another. Overall, it was an amazing experience!

Well, I wanted you guys to note your "buyer manners"! Do not go into some shop and after seeing the price, you spoke out the prices so loudly and stating that it's expensive. This looks very bad on Singaporean! As to the locals there, Singaporean were much richer Asians and thus, if something like this came out from you, it leaves a very bad impression on them that we are cheapo or something. When shopping around Taiwan, do smile and say no politely if you don't want something they recommended to you. No offenses but most of us in Singapore are educated people and so, I hope we can be gracious to people when visiting overseas too! :)

Anyway, to get to Wu Fen Pu is easy! Take the metro train and alight at Houshanpi station, after which, take exit (1) to exit the station. From there, refer to my map below this para to navigate yourself to the place. I hope this helps! Note: Wu Fen Pu is not opened for business on Mondays.

After you are finished with your shopping, do drop by Rao He Night Market since it's nearby only! In here you will be able to spot the popular Pepper Bun (胡椒餅) which the queue is never-ending long!! Even the Super Taste (食尚玩家) show also paid them a visit recently too. It does not just attract the locals but also many tourists too. I must clap for them lah, hahas! Due to the queue and Raven is not feeling well, I dropped the idea of getting the buns from them. But if you want to read more about it, you can read my previous post on Rao He Night Market where I did queued for it.

The staffs were superb busy all the time

And the never-ending queue till late evening...

Instead, we had our try on the smaller version of the pepper bun. This one is pretty special, it have sweet and salty one! Raven bought 6 pcs back to our hostel to share. It was really nice and tasty, I will be back to get them if I ever visit Rao He next year. Btw, the store's name is "武大郎胡椒餅" and they used the same style of cooking to prepare the buns too.

Yummy mini-buns!

We had dinner at the popular soup store (十全) in the night market. It was as usual, amazing! I tried their braised pork rice and their herbal soup during my last visit and this time round, I am back! Due to the crowd, we did not stayed too long at the store. However, I must say it's one of the nicest foods which one should try when visiting the night market.

My "魯肉飯", yummy!!

Our shared "排骨湯", not bad!!

We also passed by one of the newest stores in the night market. Apparently, it is very popular, the queue is so long! Anyway, this new store is selling Tamago (玉子燒). Their specialties is that their tamago is filled with different sauces and toppings. Each serving is selling from around NT$55 to NT$75. We also missed this one, I sure hope I will be able to get one serving during my next visit. :(

In conclusion to this visit, it was one of the nicest places in Taipei that one should visit. If you love shopping, I would recommend going to Wu Fen Pu, however, it's more to the girls. And foods, never miss out Rao He Night Market! In my opinion, Rao He Night Market is one of the Top 3 Night Markets in Taipei. The first goes to Shilin, then Shida, then Rao He. Well, I have come to the end of this travel post. I hope that you guys had enjoyed reading it and do come back soon for more interesting reads!
